Deborah Jean Gregory

Deborah Gregory, 60 of Montezuma passed away Saturday morning, February 23, 2013. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Interment will be held in the Golden Rod Cemetery in Deep River. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa Hospice.

Deborah Jean Gregory, daughter of Eugene and Eulalia (Martens) Garrett, was born on December 21, 1952 in Marengo, Iowa. She was a 1971 graduate from Deep River-Millersburg High School and attended classes at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. On April 4, 1981, Deb was united in marriage to Alleyn Fisher. To this union two children were born, Jaime and Jason. They later divorced. She then married Tom Gregory on October 31, 2000. Deb worked at Oskaloosa Hospital and several local nursing homes as a Physical Therapist and a CNA. Due to her health, Deb retired in early 2010. She was a wonderful wife, a loving mother and a caring sister. Deb loved to spend time with her sisters, her children and her dog, Mimi. She enjoyed traveling, listening to country music, collecting angels and camping; especially at the Iowa State Fair, where she enjoyed the truck and tractor pulls. Deb was very musical. She enjoyed playing the piano and other various instruments.

Her memory will be honored by her husband, Tom Gregory of Montezuma; her children, Jaime Fisher of Keswick and Jason (Alicia) Fisher of Johnston; her siblings, Dixie (Burt) Byers of Amana, Diane (David) George of Keswick, Dana (Michael) Watkins of Grinnell and David (Ann) Garrett of Grimes; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew, Mathew Talbert, a mother-in-law, Shirley Gregory and a maternal grandmother, Lilia Martens.
